The Parade of Pennies Party is a great tradition in our community. For several months prior to this December event, cans are placed at area businesses to collect your loose change donations. We take that money, along with money raised through other events throughout the year, and we give Christmas to local Hopkinsville children that may not otherwise have it.
Junior Auxiliary teams up with other outreach organizations to get the names of local children who have not been selected for the Angel Tree or other gift giving programs and provides them with a safe environment where food, activities, and gifts are provided. Santa and his elves even stop by to hand out the presents! Depending on the amount we are able to raise each year, we give each child basic needs items and something fun like a new toy.
We’re already raising money for 2016’s Parade of Pennies! The holidays can be a demanding time for donations, so in an attempt to alleviate some of that holiday demand, the Hopkinsville Junior Auxiliary is trying something new this year, a Christmas in July toy drive. We are asking for local businesses to be advertised as a drop off point to accept new, unwrapped toy donations for both boys and girls from the ages of 4 through pre-teen for the entire month of July. A Junior Auxiliary Member will be by to accept the donations during the first week of August. We would provide signage to advertise in your business to help encourage your customers to participate as well, if you choose to do so. If you are interested in participating, please contact email@example.com by the end of June. If you are interested in donating toys, please watch our Facebook page for drop off locations.
